A few months ago, I installed Google Analytics on my official Web site. Combined with Google’s tools for webmasters, it has been a real learning experience, as I’ve discovered all the things I have been doing wrong all these years.
But some of what I’ve learned has been really fun. For starters, since November 1, 2008, there have been 1,134 unique visits to my site; even more interesting, those visitors hail from 547 cities in 45 different countries.
As one might imagine, the majority of my site’s traffic (809 visits) came from the United States. But it’s cool to see where the rest of it came from:

Well, it falls in the category of imitation being the sincerest form of flattery; I confess that when I was grappling to do a fast setup of my new WordPress blog yesterday, I looked at yours and took my cue from there. I really admired the look and feel of your blog, so rather than search through hundreds of themes, I decided to start with one that you had already vetted.
And yes … I am learning the hard way how addictive those site stats can be. :)

About a month ago, Bob Greenberger dropped me an e-mail; he wanted some advice on WordPress and websites, and it was on your recommendation, he said, that he wanted to pick my brain. (Note to self: Follow up with Bob; either I overloaded him in that e-mail, it wasn’t helpful to his needs at all, or my e-mail fell into the Black Hole of Earthlink.) I’d decided that Bob’s e-mail was a sign that I needed to stop talking about WordPress on my own blog. :)
I’d been meaning to thank you for the recommendation, only Christmas and meeting my niece got in the way. I know it’s tardy, but… Thank you.

Glad to hear that worked out, for both of you. As for Bob, he’s currently away on vacation after being swamped during the holidays, but I’ll touch base with him whenever he deigns to return….
